BMX - Finally got ahold of my 24" project

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

'06 DK General Lee, 24". Should be in sometime next week.

Only things non-stock (but still subject to tinkering):
pedals (weird claw-looking cages)
holy rollers.
bontrager mtb seat.

Things that I've got in the mix once it gets here:

-New wheels. I've got a bead on some halo 24's and sun mtx's (love the camo) in 24"...stock hubs seem alright to me for now. Plus I just like building wheels. It keeps me from getting in too much trouble. :D
-New grips...I've always liked oury's because they're cheap and used to them from my mtb, but definitely open to suggestions.
-Maybe new bars, depending on how they feel.
-Hookworms.

Open to suggestions, as always, thanks for the correspondence.

It would have been cooler if you named a better car. Impalas aren't that impressive compared to other cars.

I ride a 24", but thats my mtb (front sus), and I have the 20" dk general lee and I'm not too fond of it, I've modified it a fair bit but still needs alot more, pretty good for the price though.

Are those the ones with the lever which flicks outwards giving you more room or is that the 7's?

hmmm, i am unaware of this feature. come to think of it, the juicy 5's on my transition vagrant do 'click'/'pop' out when you flick outward but i didn't know this was a feature. i just thought you were disengaging the lever from plunger and nothing more. didn't know it was intended....hmmmm

That thing looks discusting.

Edit: Maybe it's just the color. But there still are a lot better cars.

Double Edit: The car looks like it has a face.

There's a '63 Impala for sale just around the corner from my house. And I think I know where I can find another. But I've got my heart set on a '59 Cadillac, or '49 Mercury.

So many of the cars today suck... we're probably going to look back at the piles of dead (oh, and irreplaceable, thus rendering the car pretty much useless) electronics and warped, discolored, ugly plastic and wonder what all the companies were smoking... As we hop into our cars that we get by pushing a button on the EZ-Car-Machine on the corner and waiting 30 seconds for it to be manufactured and plopped out, to drive for the week before it breaks and is melted down and recycled for someone else's car to be made out of it.

Oh, and they'll be running on one-time-use nuclear power cells and will be made entirely out of plastic composites, except for a mandatory module that you carry on your person and stick into every car you drive which allows the goverment to track all the driving you do and everything else about you.

We had a discussion like this before and I linked a '59 caddy in Califonia, unrestored (claimed), 59k miles, perfect condition and matching numbers. Beautiful car. I'm also a huge fan of the '40's Merc lead sleds.

But I still miss my Thunderbird and Grand National.

Hardly. I think I'm on my 9th Toyota? By the way, there's already a little GPS track stick (http://www.trackstick.com/) with a USB plug that your folks can buy for about $200, that will allow them to track your movements in the car for a month at a time.

Not really. There are two more desirable Toys out there, that you've never heard of. One is a Toyota Stout that was styled after the Scout, the other is Trekker, forerunner to the 4Runner. I've only ever seen one of each in my whole life.

Those are some damned nice lookin' trucks. Never heard of either of them, gonna have to do abit of research.

Also, one of the trucks I plan on owning one day is an IHC Scout. Dunno why but i've always liked them.

Brian
01-27-07, 03:06 PM
That Stout is copied after the Scout, much like the '76/77 Celica was styled after the Mustang fastback. For off road, Google Unimog.

wethepeople
01-27-07, 03:08 PM
Unimogs are great, no need for me to google them.

There is a guy down the road that uses them to shuttle mountian bikers to the tops of the hills, can go up or down most obsticals at our 4X4 trails to. I think the only thing holding it back is the tires.
