Classic & Vintage - Peugeot 24" wheels

I want to look at a peugeot mixte in the morning. Add says that it's 24" wheels. Is there such a thing? What do you guys think of the bike?

The pic looks like 26/27" wheelset. The ad copy say 26". Maybe they did a revision? For $35, I'd be on that. Looks like alloy hoops in the photo, maybe.

As a yardstick, I paid $10 for a 20" NEXT donor bike at Salv Army the other day. The wheels went on a project bike as did the steering stem and maybe handle bars. I'll strip the frame of the bits, put them in my boxes and take the frame to the scrapper for a couple of bucks. I'm doing ok.

Here you have a nice rider on the cheep, with some TLC you could probably easily triple you money, more on a good day. :)

24" wheels are certainly possible, although not necessarily on this bike. I've seen a couple of bikes, essentially meant for children, which have had 24" wheels. Those are tiny, tiny bikes. They are almost too small for me, even. I also have a couple of bikes in which the front wheel is 24", and the rear wheel is 700c. Those two bikes are meant for small men/women who would have problems with toe overlap (it has to do with the geometry of the bike).

But I have a Peugeot which is similar to the one in the photo. Mine has 27" steel rims. Go figure.

I'm certain that if I'm wrong, someone will come along and correct me :) .

Peugeot had a model, M46, which was a 24" mixte. The bike in the picture is clearly a 27" model.

I think if it had truly had 24" wheels, you would know it. The bikes with the 24" wheels look almost like miniature bikes. Which essentially is what they are :D .

I have a 24" Centurian Dave Scott, believe it or not. Fork and frame are scaled down to fit smaller rims. Made for a pretty serious young rider, I guess.

The bikes in that size actually look 'dainty'. I'm certain that almost all of you know what I mean, just as all of you know how to look at a photo of a bike and say, I think that would fit me, or that's a bit too big for me.

No picture. It is not pristine. I am not the rider; I ride HUGE monster-framed bikes. I bought this one for $10 to steal the crankset off it. i considered chucking the frame, but have not yet. I will never ride it of course, but I had an idle thought in the back of my mind that maybe one of my boys would ride it when they got a bit older. For know, the frame hangs from the rafters. The cranks are on another bike, and the remaining parts are in a box on the shelf.

There was a time when it eas required of all licenced riders under the age of, damn now I am not sure of age I think it was twelve, that had to ride a midget bike. These all had 24" wheels. Some of these were quite nicely made and well equiped. My daughter's Paris Sport track bike even had Campy parts and tubular tires.
Colnago I still makes a 24" road machine.
