That sucks, my best wishes go out to larry and his family.

I've given up on posting on bikeprolog, not too fond on the time it the server to update the stats.

Here's some info on the man from the article:
05/03/2003 By ROY APPLETON / The Dallas Morning News

Larry Schwartz was on the road again early Thursday, living his passion, riding his bicycle north of McKinney. By midmorning the Wylie man was flown by helicopter to Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, where he was fighting for his life Friday night. Mr. Schwartz, 42, was pedaling east on FM1461 about 8:05 a.m. Thursday when the mirror of a passing eastbound school bus struck his head, knocking him to the ground, said Senior Cpl. Kent Paluga of the Texas Department of Public Safety. The nationally known marathon cyclist was unconscious when flown to the hospital, Cpl. Paluga said. Mr. Schwartz was in critical condition Friday night at Baylor hospital.

The bus driver, Robert Haynes, 40, was jailed Thursday on a felony charge of failure to stop and render aid, Cpl. Paluga said. He was free Friday on $10,000 bond. The Anna resident could not be reached for comment Friday. Mr. Schwartz estimated that he had biked about 25,000 miles last year – and about 10 times that number since turning to cycling in 1988 to stay in shape. "I can't stop," he said in an interview in December. "This has been my best year yet."

With 7,612 miles this year, he is the leader in the Big Dogs Challenge, which charts the progress of the nation's endurance cyclists. Daniel Schaaf, who rides and trains with Mr. Schwartz, said his friend is unassuming about his reputation. "He doesn't ever brag about what he does. He does thousands of miles on the bike, and he doesn't mention it unless you ask him," said Mr. Schaaf, a Rowlett resident. "He's very bright," said Mr. Schaaf, who enjoys the narratives that Mr. Schwartz writes about his trips. Plano resident Warren Casteel said he became friends with Mr. Schwartz through the Plano Bicycle Association in 1994. "Larry was very reserved," Mr. Casteel said. "But he had a passion for cycling. I once did 8,500 miles in one year, but Larry was doing 20,000. He was remarkable."
