Maybe up the Yukon River in the middle of January.

How about you?

I'd love to see Texas covered with a network of moderately improved bike trails, with small towns every 20 miles or so, starting maybe with the old El Camino Real from San Antonio to Nachitoches. In my dreams.

I'd like to go back to Italy and ride the same roads I did as a child. I had NO idea how good I had it back then. :D

To Kentucky, where our boat is. It's about 875 miles one way.

If I did ride down there though, I'd kinda like to not have to come back :)

Any road that doesn't have a cellphone yacking idiot driving a SUV on it...
I enjoyed my ride in the MSP area back in September and plan on doing it again. It was amazing to be able to ride as far as we did, and the bicycle infrastructure there is amazing.

Hoh Rainforest in Washington. Missed it by one day on our tour due to late airline luggage.

No particular order:

-Benelux, France, Northern/central Italy, Switzerland, Bavaria all in one loop
-Thailand (did a bike tour from Chumphon to Ao Nang/Krabi last summer and it was beyond wonderful)
-Vietnam (more rural than Thailand and thus even nicer to look at, though the people aren't nearly as pleasant)
-Most of Great Britain
-Australia
-Montana near Glacier park

And last but not least...I really miss summer tours in Southern NY and the Appalachians.

California has been okay for all the tours I've done out here, but pales in comparison to what I expected when I moved here. I do have to say though that the microclimates and mini-ecologies have been interesting - it has great variety, so I shouldn't complain.

I was thinking about Minnesota when I saw the thread title. I'd like to try the Root River trail. 42 miles long and you can continue on into Wisconsin, which also has some nice biking infrastructure.

Although a tour from Amsterdam to Bruge sounds like a nice few days....

Well to live, I'd choose either Copenhagen, Amsterdam or Montreal.
To tour around, I'd say Croatia.

You know, I'd like to do a Critical Mass ride too. But I always work on Friday evenings, which is when they're held, so I've never been able to.

TransAm Northern Route, from east coast to Illinois, then south to Trans AM, stop by home for lunch, then west to Pacific Coast.

France, Germany, Netherlands, Spain. The usual European ones. I've really dreamt of biking across Australia, though; that would be an accomplishment worth bragging about. This Summer, I have more modest ideas, maybe a ride from Seattle to San Francisco, if I can find a more comfortable saddle, dammit.

I spent a day last week on vacation biking in the southern Czech Republic outside of Cesky Krumlov. Well marked bike routes, gently rolling hills, back shady roads, thick forests and green fields, small villages with rail stations serving every single one.

I can't imagine having a more perfect day on a bike - pics coming soon :)

I'd like to clear the freeways of all auto traffic and ride on them. They look nice and flat.

!! March would be a better plan. In January on the upper Yukon you can hit temps of sixty or seventy below f. Nobody wanders far.

I just watched the series on Copenhagen from abillionbikes.com (a free podcast that you can watch on itunes, if you are not already familiar with it). I would love to experience that...

I spent over a month in southeastern Bosnia (not on a bike) and I wouldn't want to do any road touring there. Beautiful natural scenery, but the roads are downright dangerous - pretty sad when you consider the potential. I have heard much better reviews about Croatia and Slovenia, though - I would definitely give them a try.

If I had the money/ability the places that I think would be great to go on a bike tour of (in no particular order):
1. Northern Germany (possibly crossing over into the neighboring countries)
2. Ireland and/or Scotland (again maybe short stint down into Britian, but mostly Ireland or Scotland)
3. Japan (other E. Asian countries would be interesting to visit as well)

One of the best bike tales ever was a 3 part series in National Geographic a few years ago. A guy rode all the way around the coast of Australia -- Thousands of miles, no sag, totally alone. It took him several months, IIRC, and there were places on the west coast where he could go hours without seeing another vehicle.
