Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - small frame suggestions?

Hey,

I'm just building up my first fixed gear now. I have a 48cm Nishiki but it is still a bit too big. I am 5'2'' and have a 29 in inseam. Any suggestions? price matters.

fuje track SE is a good choice, as mattface said.

another decent option would be finding an old steel mountain bike with 26" wheels - like a trek from the early/mid 90s. those sized pretty small, too, and with the right tinkering could be made to fit and to look and ride pretty nice.

one company, i forget who, made a line of women's bikes with a 24" front wheel to make the top tube as short as 49cm (w/ two 700c wheels, the shortest a top tube can get is 51 or 52 cm - any shorter and there's vicious toe overlap - that's why you don't see many very small 700c frames) without toe overlap. keep yr eyes open for one of those - i've only seen a few around...

I believe you are referring to Terry? That is the bikes I have been looking at for my gf who is 5'1". I think they get even shorter then 49cm too for the TT.

I'm about your height I ride a Fuji Track SE and its great. Here are some frames/bikes that I found that could be good for you:

Fuji Track SE (uses 650c) (43cm)
Fuji track (49cm)
Debernardi (46cm)
Bianchi (49cm)
Cannondale (48 cm)
Bareknuckle (48cm)
IRO Mark V (uses 650c) (46 cm)

IRO's Mark V does not use a 650c wheel. there is no 46 cm size. it's a 50 size, the seat tube is a little short, but the top tube is 52.5. it's just on the large side of fitting me, and i'm 5'5". so.

650c is a really good idea when you are going below 50cm.

it's all good. When i saw this I thought "I would like to have another bike for those 'just in case' situations". I don't know I can get one in the group buy that's going on here.

Anyone with experince building up a 50cm frame with smaller wheels to accomodate a 27-28" standover?

I have a source for the Fuji Track SE 43cm for cheap.

my wife is like 5'1" and she likes her bianchi san jose. i think hers is like a 46cm.

There is also a Fuji SE/Terry type bike, which is what I used to make my conversion.
