it's the same... there is not one for road and one for track.

The difference is in the hubs. There are fixed gear hubs, freewheel hubs, double fixed hubs and free/fixed hubs.

You can lace up mostly any rim to any hub.

Do you mean to say you want to lace machined-wall Deep Vs to track hubs instead of non-machined-wall Deep Vs? Machined walls are the ones meant for with-brake usage, whereas non-machined walls aren't.

yeah exactly i just want machined deep vs laced to a track hub (another dumb question-are track hubs good for road use and whats the diffrence between high and low flange other than the apperance)

The only difference between the two types of rim is the machining - it'll fit and work just as well with either. As far as the durability of a hub, it depends on the make and model. Find out who manufactured it and the model and hit up the search function. I haven't seen many negative reviews on here, other than prices and comparisons (high-end versus low-end, obvious quality differences). High and low flange are discussed here and probably at Sheldon Brown's site (http://sheldonbrown.com), just search around. Sheldon's site turns up results for 'flange' (discussing why high flanges have been used) here (http://www.sheldonbrown.com/gloss_e-f.html#flange), while BF turns up ...a lot of nothing, kinda.
