Folding Bikes - big aple tires on a piccalo

hey gang , a question here. i have a 2006 3spd piccalo. i noticed that the new dahons 16 in s come with the schwabe big apple tires on them. i forget the name of the bike . i would like to know how to tell if i can put them on my piccalo. i looked at the specs and my tires are 16 in by 1.5 s and the big apples are 16 in by 2.0. where would i have to measure and what to measure?
Also how hard would it be to get more gears on that thing like say five or six .
any ideas would be welcome thanks igor the retired bike cop

The biggest tire you can fit on the Piccolo is the Schwalbe Marathon. Otherwise, you'll have to ditch the fenders. If you need five speeds, sell the Piccolo and buy the Curve SL.

what fenders , i dont have fenders on my bike. So if fenders are the only problem and that is not a issue,then i can put them on the bike.?
the gear issue ill live with if i cant change it.

The rims on our Boardwalks (both the D7's and S1) have a label on them noting the MAX tire size as 1.75".

I just replaced the stock 1.5" stock tires with a set of 1.75's on the S1 - the new, larger tires work very well with the stock fenders. I didn't go to 2.00" tires because of the info on the rims. Didn't want to ditch the fenders either. They are a necessity here in the PNW.

I just measured a 16" x 2" Big Apple and it's 1.73" wide, on an Alex X-101 rim. Height above the rim looks like about 1.75". Measure the actual tires on your bike and the clearance you have now to determine if the Apples will fit.

As BAs seem to roll best at less than full pressure, which isn't all that high anyway, I wouldn't hesitate to run them on a narrower rim.

My theory on tires is simple - If a Big Apple will fit, use it. Everything else is "Plan B".
