Anyone have any details of the cyclist accident on the bike path by the beach just this morning?

There was a cyclist down about 11:30am on the Marina Del Rey-South Bay bike path, just about 1/2 mile south of the bridge (by the UCLA boat docks). I rode up on it right after it happened, and the paramedics were already on scene. It appears that he was riding a white mountain bike, but when I saw him he was laying on the path with the paramedics just starting to take care of him. I think his head might have been bleeding, but can't be sure, and I didn't see any helmet anywhere.

I didn't notice any other cyclists involved. I don't have any other details, and didn't stay around since everybody was in the right hands.

It was really disturbing. :(

That's my local path, too. I hope he's ok.
That area you describe is pretty open, I wonder if pedestrians/rollerbladers were involved. South of the bridge, I usually take Pacific Avenue/Trolleyway to the service road parallelling the path. On weekends, the Path just gets too crowded.

Thanks for the replies.

This didn't have the appearance of a minor accident. He was not being allowed to move, like he had hit his head or something. I, too, am hoping to hear good news.

BTW, I like the route, it's generally quite good almost any time except those busy weekend days. The lack of auto traffic is great, though the blissful idiots cause occasional problems when they don't pay attention.
