Southern California - So Cal has gone "ride" crazy! - let's gather socially???

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
*gulp* is it HOT in here? or is it just me?
sorry just you

F.Y.I ... If any of you have kids you can certainly bring them. My daughter is 12 and they can have a Circus Cirucs Amusement Park day...My mother will gladly take them there for the day and hang around. Granted she doesn't walk around with them...so you would have to be okay with that. But she doesnt leave the hotel. And they have to check in with her every 2 hours either by cell or she designates a meeting place inside the adventure dome.

Wow, how is it so many people have never been to Vegas? I go several times per year - didn't realize there are people who haven't gone at least once!

If we do some sort of "pizza/drink beer/repair bikes in the hottub" night, I have a folding workstand I will gladly bring with me as well as a small assortment of bike specific tools as well as general tools that I use on bikes....

Okay, kids. Enough is enough (sort of). We are turning into riding monsters (yes, the season is here, and we are all in training, but balance is balance!). I, for one, will admit I'm suffering. My apartment is a war zone (Which is not like me. I mean, I can be messy, but this is environmentally hazardous!), my dating and sex life do not exist (well, in my imaginary world, they are quite robust...but let me not get off on that topic :p), my cultural life suffering, and my non-cycling friends are over it! Not good. :(
So, I'm wondering if we, as a So Cal community can foster a sense of camaraderie with other activities as well (maybe?). Perhaps we can do a ride/BBQ kind of thing, or "what happened to girl's night????", or So Cal potluck night? (not at my place...remember, war zone thing?). Something gentle that isn't about the miles, the elevation, the "we're number one" thing! I KNOW - I'm a hypocrite with all of my riding and posting and riding and posting... But trust me, after Butterfield, I will need a little break!
I'm suggesting a social gathering type of thread - this one - where those who want to, can post social things and those who want to, can join. It doesn't mean ALL of us at the same time since we live in different areas. So, OC folks, post stuff and the OC folks can come as well as those who wish to drive. In turn, we "valley" folks can post and those who want to come from other regions can. But something to keep a social thread/flow going. And finally, I stick by my opinion that I wish some more of you would organize rides - under 100 miles! I'll come. I promise. As will others, I'm sure. I guess, I'm proposing a "balance" as there are so many aspects to this community that have yet to be explored. There is a time and a place for a 508 ride - and there is a time and a place for a 20 mile social ride. And there is always time for a beer/wine/coke/water/meal/whatever with your fellow BF rider and friend. :o :D
So, I'll start. AFTER the Butterfield, the first Saturday in March, girl's night? Brandy? Tiff? Tracy? Flipflops? Nygirl? Renee? Heddy? Redfetish? Girls????? LAish or OCish. Let's get the party started! Next????????
Hey,
I know this club with a slightly mental piano player, that would love to cater to "girls night out".

Howl at the Moon maybe???
YOu're so cute, Scott. ;) Sorry, I haven't gotten back to this thread yet. You know? That whole silly work thing. :p But I'll put up a poll hopefully before I go to sleep tonight to garner what the gals want to do. And I'll put up a bowling night in the valley. But as for the Bike Maintenance Party and the Bowling night in the OC, SOME OTHER MEMBER has to take the reins...hint, hint. :D

You should join the circus, Ovolip, and then the 12 year olds can come throw peanuts at you. It might be a great way for you to meet chics. :D

Well Ovary man you can go to the circus but NOT with the 12 year olds...I know some 80 year old ladies that would love your company. But you'd have to pick them up from the nursing home.

Sheesh, M.E. - you complain of your dating life (or lack thereof), and you plan a GIRL'S night out? Hmmmmm . . . I think I'll step up and begin organizing a Speed-Dating event - eligible BF dudes each get 1 minute sitting across from you - winner gets a ride and dinner (hopefully, but not necessarily, in that order) with you. :p
Jschen, who hasn't weighed in yet, can come measure our hotel room bed - I mean, roomS and bedS
Oh wait, why am I wondering about the rules for the guys for the girls' night out? I'm evidently already invited. :D

That won't work for me as I'm driving down the day of (and back post ride), but great idea for the chics who are staying the night!:D
Also, I messed up and did the ladies night poll without Vegas considered. My bad. :(

Any man who can figure out how to squeeze us women on a bed all at once and keep each of us happy while doing it, is welcomed. Just be sure to bring that brain of yours and a really wide ruler. :D

One job...I give you one job to do :) just kidding....Good choices though..I will get my vote in. I will also start a thread for Vegas - one night out and the next day a ride. We can do the tour de fire route. Thanks for the Poll M.E. I am so glad you decided to stick around..:D
