Well, the weather has finally broken here in Northern Michigan, and just in time for my official entry into bike touring with the arrival of my new 2003 Bianchi Volpe. I 've just started my season with the arrival of the new bike four days ago and have logged about 55 miles so far.
I also started my 2-3 days/week commute (19 miles round-trip) this morning with 15 mph headwinds and the threat of rain this afternoon--good thing I bought the fenders!
Besides the stock bike, I've outfitted her with the following items:
Terry Liberator gel saddle
Planet Bike fenders
Cateye computer
Blackburn EXP rear rack
Blackburn FL-1 lowrider front rack
REI panniers, front & rear
Vaude Road handlebar pack
Specialized saddle wedge pack
Still have a few things to follow up on w/ my LBS (gearing work) but all in all, I'm quite pleased with the ride--very comfortable and snappy!
