Yes, it's a kickbike, my summer ride,as far a kicking in the winter,if you had the cross country model and are 40 years younger than i am, you could probably do it! You are in contack with the road all the time with your feet, so if its slippery its not a smart thing to do,also the wind in the winter will kill you because your in a stand up configuration,you catch it all/but for summer, they are great..i have a little over 7,000 miles on mine and love it, ive did two MS150's with it and go 40 mile routes on a regular outing.They have a new one this year called the G4, but i haven't seen it yet! You think a single speed is tough? jump on one of these bad boys!My heart rate stayes in the 150-160 range for 2+hours, and im 62!

Fortunately, the same company makes the Kickspark: http://www.kickbike.fi/index.php?mid=93. You do need some kind of studs in your soles though, especially if you're going to race on ice (which is FUN from what I hear).

I'm impressed at your mileage. Maybe I'll get there one day... on my regular bike! :)

Some people see the trees, some people see the forest! Is the water bottle half full? or half empty?dosen's matter, it's still winter riding!

It's a scooter,i don't know about fancy,but it is the real deal,no seat on this baby! you push ,it goes,you don't work,it stay's put! that simple!

I have seen kick-sleds like this on frozen lakes and ponds here. they had large skate like blades on them. I think they bought them in Finland? looks like fun to me.

Yep, the kick-sled has been in use here since late 19th century. It was originally developed in Sweden. These guys however have upgraded the design, making it less utility oriented and gearing it towards exercise. The record for a (metric) century is a bit over 3,5 hours. The thin skate like blade you saw is for pure ice, there's also a tad wider general blade for ice and hard packed snow, and a plastic "ski" attachment to the blade for softer snow.
