Classic & Vintage - Raleigh Super Course MkII

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
This not mine. I found this on CL and just wanted to give a heads up. I hope that ulock hasn't done anything to the paint.

I don't know--at $450, I'd tend to classify this one as a numbskull seller. Nice looking bike and I'm a big fan of the Super Course, but they're routinely going for half that price or less on eBay.

Correct Neal, in fact I just picked up one for $10 on Craigslist (the one in Rochester, MN), although it was an older model, not the MKII. For $450 I could have that one restored to like-new condition, I am sure, but it would still only be worth $200 or less.
Is that a Nervar Sport cotterless steel crankset?
It is quite nice looking for a midscale bike.

With a few little subtractions (lock, grab-ons, reflectors and pie plate), that is one gorgeous example of the species. Yeah, $450.00 is kind of high, but I think it could be had for quite a bit less in a couple weeks.
To be honest, it's my bike. That photo, as the ad states, is BEFORE restoration. So I've done a lot of work to bring it as close to original as possible. The full info is in the ad, and I'm getting new photos up by Tuesday - it's been so gross outside.
Re: the price - I admit it's not low. But I'm going from recent eBay activity - a truly crappy green/white SCII went for $280 recently, even without the original Brooks. I may or may not see $450, but it doesn't hurt to go for it, right? It's not costing me anything to sit on it. :) If anyone has questions just shoot.

IMO, you have a better shot at that price if you list it on eBay rather than CL, but who knows? Good luck!

Yeah it's headed to eBay after I shoot photos.

What did you do to restore it?
What did you do to restore it?
You could read the craigslist ad. I broke down the bike, overhauled the BB, cleaned and polished everything, adjusted everything, new bar tape like the original and new tires, etc.
Awsome, this is my first time in this forum, and the first thread is about the bike I ride (although mine is green and converted to fix)
To me $450 is way out of this world, considering I found mine in the garbage! But I guess if the market will support that price, go for it.

Yes, thats the crank alright, at least its what came on mine. I have taken it off due to lack of available chainrings in that BCD. I might still have it laying around if you know anyone that is looking for one.
Telix, that's a great looking bike in quite good condition. I was excited to see it. Good luck on your sale.
I took photos this morning. The gallery can be found here. (http://www.thepresentday.net/share/images/bike/)

Very nice. Might want to consider rotating the bars down a little. She's just used enough to tell she didn't sit in a garage all the time.
