Classic & Vintage - Toothless Nuovo Gran Sport?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I've just (finally) taken possession of the long awaited Gazelle Champion Mondial cross bike. Just a quick question : the rear der. is Nuovo Gran Sport, bottom jockey wheel has the well-known pointed teeth look, but it's the top one that puzzles me; completely smooth! I can imagine the teeth being worn and pointed, but no teeth at all??? Surely there should be something left UNLESS it's supposed to look like that (which I doubt). Ideas?

I don't know the answer to your question, but I can tell you Soma sells repros http://www.somafab.com/pullies.html
The Gran Sport derailleur, the one before the Nuovo Grand Sport, had toothless jockey wheels. At some point in the last 30-40 years someone probably changed the wheel on yours.
The Gran Sport derailleur, the one before the Nuovo Grand Sport, had toothless jockey wheels. ... In fact, metal wheels with tiny ball bearings, at least circa 1960.

The Huret Allvit used the same style jockeys (though on a much less functional piece of hardware). :p :D
Well, it sure ain't metal!

Well, in that case, you either have a worthless piece of worn out plastic, or an amazingly valuable collector's item. I think the first case is much more likely.
