calling them out as "a total failure" for their decision when you aren't on the team, coaching staff or any part of the uscf is absolutely ridiculous. when you become an insider you let us know, ok?

perhaps they are resting everyone else for the the worlds that are only one month after manchester?

Not necessarily-- world cups are qualifiers for worlds, and as teams win spots at worlds they start to weight the cost/benefit of sending people halfway around the world to qualify. If you look at a lot of countries' LA rosters, they didn't send their top people (who were already assured spots) but sent some of the younger/newer people to pick up experience.

I'm not sure the mens squad has locked many spots for worlds though, so it's not that great a sign. Some of the other guys who wouldn't win worlds spots anyway might also be picking up some experience in 6-days and the likes.

And Friedman is still on the injured list.

So you saying everyone in US team is resting after stellar performance on LA world cup?

US will be in the ranks of smal republick of Trinidad and Tobago, Belarus and Jamaica, they all brought 2 riders, everyone els is resting! yeahhhh way to go USA!!

I'm not sure how much money the USCF throws at its track squad but I'll bet it's a fraction of the millions that the UK squad has to make their lives easier - money for training, equipment, support, testing, living expenses. And look what's it's done for the UK since Boardman started the ball rolling - world and olympic golds and world records by the basket full.

If you look at the composition of the US Track talent pool (aka national team) and how people get in, and the rules for riders who are in, riders are basically on their own to develop and mostly what USAC does is run the selection events. They also run some training camps, but riders are (last time I checked, which wasn't recently) mostly responsible for getting their own coaching subject to the approval of USAC to stay in the talent pool.

And given the success that a bunch of women have had lately, and considering that a lot of the men are relatively young, it makes sense that they're sending more women than men to Manchester.

Are our men any younger than the other countries? They're not going to get any better training by themselves. They need to base themselves at T-Town during the summer and get the Euros to come over here like it used to be.

I'm as critical of our lack of success as anyone but the truth is the top countries have government supported programs - Australia, UK, France, Netherlands.
