Anyone done it? Anyone have it on the calendar for '07?
I'm debating. Love the FL area... and with all that climbing it will be a great "event" to focus on.

if i had more (read: any) rando experience, i would love to do it as i was a student at Ithaca College and also feel connected to that area. i fear that my lack of training and experience would render the event not only torturous for me but also a PITA for those who had to pick me up/help me as i DNF'ed. if i seem to come into great shape by june, i will consider it, as PBP is not on the map for me.
i would hate to soil my memories of central NY, though.
good luck to those who do it, as it seems to be a brutish amount of climbing.

I did the Quadzilla for the first time this year, and it was an awesome butt kicking ride! I finished in 33:25, which was the 3rd fasted time posted this year. The fastest time was a new record set by a 4 man paceline - 2 of which were RAAM cyclists and a 3rd previously held the course record. Quite an elite group. The 2nd fastest time was by two gentlement from Ohio who were going to the PBP this year - they got me by 5 minutes.
If you ever get a chance to do it, GO FOR IT! Absolutely breath taking views of the Finger Lakes. The 27,000 feet of climbs are not long, gradual climbs full of switchbacks, but rather hang on for your dear life and pray you can keep turning the pedals. Fantastic support with good hot food at several checkpoints. The next time it is held, it will be the 10th Quadzilla, so it may a very memorable ride. I'm planning on being there if the DW lets me!
