Looks like I'll be heading down to do this race.
Any of our AZ riders going to be there? anyone in Cat 4?
It looks reasonably intense. Anyone know how popular a race it is? big showing from good riders?

i unfortunately won't be heading out for this one, but i did it last year as my last race(s) as a cat 5. how 'intense' it is depends on your defition, but i know the 4 race is typically a HUGE field. as for the three events, here's what i remember of each:
-the TT is definetely the 'key' to winning (or getting any kind of decent overall results)...last year's course was a gently rolling out and back and tons of dudes show up with some seriously blingin' TT setups
-the RR has one hill....it's not a super long hill, more of a 'power up it up' type thing than a long climb. there's a right hand turn before the start of the hill and you want to be near the front then. if you get popped on the hill, there's a long descent that if you get some people to work together your race won't be over. i think the 4s do three laps (and the finish is at the top of the hill)
-the crit is amazing! it's something like 8-10 turns through downtown phx. last year's 4 field burned through the course, and between the size of the field and all those turns good starting position is important
hope this helps, and i'm seriously jealous!

thanks for the description. It sounds like an awesome race...about awesome enough to justify a 12 hour drive

if i didn't have to work it would TOTALLY justify the 7 hour drive for me....as for the other poster, i know last year you could email the promoter (white mountian cycling/landis cyclery) to be put on a wait list for cancellations
