Classic & Vintage - Koga Tubing HM-2

Hey, has anybody info about the tubing hardtlite HM-2 Koga-Miyata used? I was offered an older Granwinner (126mm dropouts, painted "KM"Logo on the head-tube, eyelets on the forks and dropouts) and wonder how (and when?) this model was ranged in the Koga-"Family" (I suppose it´s middle 80´s?). Good question. Both of the Koga frames I have use Hi-Magna HM-2 for the fork blades and triple butted FM-1 Hardtlite cromoly for the frame. The sticker says that its built by Miyata Industries Ltd. which has always had a good reputation for high quality in production frames. I believe both these frames to be early to mid 90's or thereabouts.

Thank you....yes, these are definitely later than mine - I will pick it up on thursday but according to the pictures frame and fork are made of HM-2. Maybe I can ask Koga for some more information - it was the kind of bike I dreamed of when I was young.....curious how the bike will look and ride for "real"....-seb.

Your welcome sebseb. It seems as though there is much less info about European Koga's than the Japanese Miyata's. Forum member T-Mar is an expert on the Japanese bikes and can probably add info about your bike as well. Post some pics when you get it and let us know how that dream bike rides!

Koga Miyata writes in their catalogue 1980:Hi-Manga Special Steel Manganese Tube made by Tange....double butted. I believe this is the HM1 tubeset, there is no number in the decal.

Well, that´s a nice wellcome in this forum. Yes, I will post some pics of the bike as soon as I have it and am excited about tomorrow - going to amsterdam to pick it up....must have been sitting a long time on a balcony or in a shed...lot´s of oxidation on the aluminium parts and rust on the cables...paint looks allright though (good reputation anyway on that!)...we´ll see... -seb.

hey, here some pictures after I cleaned the bike and found the missing "golden arrow" parts ( the front and rear shifter were suntour VX, the rubber-hoods on the brak-levers were rotten and I changed them for better ones...all the rest is as it was)....only the hubs are not "golden arrow" but still suntour VX..if I find some I might change....still a nice ride I think... it is from 1983 as a dealer told me...somebody has an old catalogue from this time? -seb.
