Don't want to be snarky here, but where's the racing? I'm going to be out of town, but have always thought that a sprint down Boylston from Mass Ave to the Garden would be good fun. Could even have people from the event play traffic guards and block the thru streets.

Otherside isn't a bar. You only get id'ed if you buy liquor.

And to paraphrase the flyer, the race is on 2/24, 3pm registration, 3:30pm start. Meet at the Statue of Leif Erikson at Charlesgate, where Newbury and Comm Ave meet. $10 entry, but that gets you a free raffle ticket to the post-race raffle and Quicksilver screening. And it's all for a great cause. So do it! Team Gigantic has spoken!

Did I mention cash prizes? And a free raffle ticket, with a chance to win a sweet handbuilt wheelset? I think I did. And what the hell, if you win the race I'll buy you a beverage (alcoholic or non) at the afterparty. So put me down on the sponsor list too.

Oh man, got the manifest today. Prepare for some fast and furious fun, ladies and gents.

about how many miles are we in for?

BuddyMike
02-22-07, 09:52 PM
why do you want to know the miles? Its more fun figuring it out after.

Kilgore_Trout
02-22-07, 10:12 PM
just out of curiosity. mostly because last years MT was about 15miles, so i was thinking this years would be 15-20, and then they pull out 25miles and i was slightly dead.
its not as if whatever mileage is said will deter me from racing, i'm still going to make it regardless.

Long enough, but not too long. ;)

Serioulsy, it's going to be really fun. Spread the word, and spread it wide.

checkpoints:
stanley a ringer playground
cambridge st and mass tpke footbridge
somerville ave and medford st
bunker hill memorial
summer and a streets
parker hill playground
otherside cafe

i, however, only did the first 2 check points before my bike decided to break down, yet again. how is it that my bike survived monstertrack, as well as riding over the 59th street bridge and 8miles along queens blvd in slush/ice/snow/salt, but the 2 times i've raced in boston i managed to not finish?
i think i might have to start posting more in the 'i hate boston' thread...or 'boston hates me/my bike'

great race guys

you dslr guys need to post pics :)

walking up parker hill absolutely mutilated me, nevermind after doing that first checkpoint and my cleats being so full of snow I couldn't even get them (after doing the butt slide down the stairs). You guys are so going down next week.

PS: Nice work lauren, thanks for the party/show robin, thanks for putting on a great event Rob, and thanks everyone else.

awesome race, team g - thanks a lot! the knock-you-on-your-ass-icy-slope ringer playground checkpoint was a brilliant idea.

were there actually pink flyers sitting out there? i spotted a false alarm on a store window on prospect st in cambridge, but otherwise didn't see anything..

pictures of all the unhappy people jumping barrels @ #4 can be found at my flickr account.

bikeforums doesn't like my username and any links get messed up, so here we go:

just change the astericks to the proper spelling (an "o" instead of a zero) of "wh0re"

That's a cool thing racing to support the BMEF! err racing for fun & supporting teh BMEF besides is prolly more accurate!

The BMEF Paypal is being switched over to another account right now & the website itself is being revamped too i.e. do not use the info there, we'll have it fixedup in no time. So if Alexi or anyone else needs a hand getting your donation into the fund just drop me a line & I'll get you what you need & get from you the info we need to properly advertise your goodness on the new site.

shouston AT ifbma.ca or 416-538-3419

Cheers & Thanks AGAIN Boston!

I almost got hit by the bus in the background of the picture. I made eye contact with the driver and he froze in fear of me destroying his bus... with my mind. Whatever that means.
