prospect park - ice report

pretty icy in the park this morning. especially coming up toward the wollman (sp?) skating rink parking lot. also, the hill has a large portion of ice\snow that extends far into the traffic lane.

this morning, i had trouble getting through there since i had to squeeze myself between traffic and ice. despite all the ice, the drivers still go way to fast and don't budge an inch. be careful out there. how's central park these days? west side bike path? shore parkway? supposed to get another dusting of snow tonight i think.

That's weird... I did a few laps in the park last night and there wasn't that much ice.

they must of taken care of it during the day. i rode this morning (thursday) and it's almost all gone. looks like they put that de-icer stuff down in the jogger\cyclist lane. plus, i think we got up to the mid 30's yesterday so most of it probably melted on its own.

We actually stopped by the boat house and got onto the ice during tonight's moonlight ride in prospect, 2 cops drove up to us and we started chatting, they said 2 people were ticketed for being on the ice a few days ago. The ice was thick enough to support me but we got the hell off when we heard this humongous groan and creak coming from it and felt the floor vibrate.
