Classic & Vintage - Finally with the roadsters!

Okay, after much sitting in my shop of a step through sports, I've got some parts and frames and stuff to build on.

The main one I am curious about is a black and white Sears frame. it's SA shifter (someone stripped the wheel, but I have plenty) and looks like a Raleigh, but it appears most of the sears roadsters were austrian?

There's also another step through royce union, more parts and brackets, and have a line on a few more unknowns (I know they aren't superbs, though)

What I *want* is to make something as close to a superbe as possible for real daily utility. I don't care a whit about original anything (unless I find a superbe or a roddie for real.)

So I'll repaint the sears frame as needed and build it out. I guess with a side gen, since I can't find a dyno. I've got what looks like an original vinyl sprung seat- weighs half as much as that nasty dutch boxter spriing saddle I have on the bianchi.

A light weight go fast version of the classic roadster. They came in several formats This (http://retroraleighs.com/clubman-kohler/pages/catalogue51clubman.html) is one of my favorites. I just got an old Dawes 531 Galaxy that I am going to build up similar to This 1939 (http://retroraleighs.com/catalogs/1939/pages/18.htm) version. The current plan is 3 speed hub (until I can find a 4 speed FW) inverted North Road bars, light weight fenders and a dyno hub.:D

I just had a look, and those are Latterwasser, or Paris bars, rather than flipped North Roads. They turn up on UK ebay on and off, if you want me to look for some, but alternatively, the Nashbar own brand moustache bars are closer to those in profile than they are to normal Nitto moustaches, and will look much closer than flipped North Roads, plus they're cheap.

Thanks for the heads up...I will check into the Nashbar bars....Right now the search is on for an FW hub, or possibly the innards to stuff in an AG case:eek: ;) But like many of us I am economically challenged:o I have all ready spent my allowance thru at least the end of March:cry:

Well, I've got a half dozen AWs and 2 shimano 33s, plus the odd austrian- In fact I have a brand new torpedo in 28 hole, too. (I think that if I can find some 24x1 3/8 28 hole rims I'll put it on the old royce union youth frame....)

Still can't figure out the sears frame, but I found the serial number in gold lettering on the right rear drop.

That galaxy sounds nice! our local bike co op has two of those recently donated and we're debating what to do with them. I might bid in a silent auction and see what I come up with.

Just wondering: Wouldn't On-One Midge bars be a lot closer to Latterwasser bars? Wide and flat on top. Very shallow drop with pronounced outward flair. Moustache bars have almost no straight section coming out of the clamp.
