Wow....I must say, he has "b---". Even though I wouldn't try something like that, he does have the right to do so. Honestly, he's not hurting anyone. If he was a "women", wearing a bra top, would the reaction be the same? Maybe. Maybe not.

Here's his video...

say what you like, but the guy has a right to
ride around as depicted in the photo. The sheriff says
it, he's breaking no laws.
What disturbs me are the reactions, one woman
changed her routine because she has her 12 year
old son with her.
so, if I follow her logic:
If a) the guy bicycles in a thong
and b) the woman has a 12 year old son
then c) the guy is a child molester
I seem to recall something in deductive logic that would
have negated this argument.

Sorry bout the mini rant, these small minded, holier than
thou types really get my dander up...

A quote from the article and attached pic:

"According to state law, no offense is committed if the man has "his anus and genitals" covered, Castro said. Which the thong does, if nothing else."

Not my choice of riding attire. And I would certainly rather my daughter not have to look at this goofball in public. He may not be doing anything illegal that warrants arrest but he certainly is doing something that is blatantly offensive to others. Not to mention the great things this action does for public opinion of cyclists in general. Funny how the weirdos like to prance around like peacocks in public on the margins of the law.

We can learn something from everyone in life. Things that make us look stable and well mannered and things that make us look like idiots.

They showed some video of this guy on CNN this morning. He was very intense-looking -- "intense" as in, "Most Likely to Climb the Tower with a Rifle"...

One fund raising idea I doubt we'll ever see - the BikeForum thong - now available for Men and Women! :)

O my gosh! My wife and children make fun of me for leaving in LACRA bike pants and Primal Wear jerseys!:p

Just go to some of the stores around here and look at what some of the teen girls wear. I think this fella is just pushing the law right up to the edge to prove that laws do have a line that can be gotten close to. I work in health care and can't begin to put a number on the naked bodies I have seen. Let me tell you, I don't care if people are allowed to run around naked. Most of us look better with something on.

If you don't like the law pettion to have it changed. That is the way it works in the USA!

He's not wearing underwear under his bike shorts, but he still hasn't got it quite right.

To think our Puritan founding fathers still has no influence on our very conservative way of thinking. He would not even warrant a second look in much of Europe and certainly would not be seen as a child molestor threat.

Some told me about that guy last night. This morning on the way to work one of this radio station sent an intern to the River Oaks. For those not from Houston, that is a rich part of town. I had to laugh when they said the intern was wearing only a thong as well. They had him on and he was scare, kept commenting on how the cops were circling. He got a few honks. Unfortunately I did not hear what happened when he pulled up to the country club to say he had 2 balls to deliver to a golfer.

I had thought of going on a ride like that. Sure someone would not admit it, just like that whole skinny dipping thing. Course the thing is I am wonder. I get funny looks wearing the spandex in line at the Stop n Robs here in the Houston/Pasadena/Clear Lake area.... I just wish someone post pictures of the looks he gets when he goes to buy a Gatorade.

And this is how trends start. The next thing you know everyone will be wearing the same thing. I should not have ordered those new shorts tonight.

Though he appears nearly naked from time to time, Joseph Gottschalk is legally covered.

Joseph Gottschalk causes controversy by choosing to wear the minimum amount of clothing required by law while bicycling.

San Antonio Park Police have received several complaints over the past month about a man who cruises on a bicycle wearing only shoes and a thong ¡X a swimsuit or undergarment that doesn't cover the buttocks.

Gottschalk, 52, an unemployed truck driver...

I sure hope my butt looks that good at 52...

I would have had you down as someone who would support his right to do this.

If he's covered up and it offends others maybe it is the onlooker who's values are to blame.

I'm with you on the view it gives of cyclists though
