I looked at the bottom bracket shell of a Trek 720 cyclocross-style frame I bought
as suggested at: http://www.vintage-trek.com.

Stamped there is: "TOC 51605." Is this a Trek SN, or something a dealer or owner might have added? It doesn't seem to fit into the Trek format mention above.

There are two types of Trek 720's that I know of. The 720 touring bikes from the early '80's, some of the best tourers ever made. Then there are the later 720's, the "Multi-Trak," which are hybrid bikes. If you read the section on the vintage trek site about serial numbers for Treks built in Taiwan from '87 through '90, I think you'll find that the format fits your serial number. They start with a T, followed by a numeral (in your case zero), then a letter, then five numerals. This would make your Trek 720 one of the Multi-Traks, a hybrid bike-

I just bought a 1990 trek 720 multi track. Are they complete crap or do they have some worth? I just bought it to play with and have no real plans for it.
