Dr.Deltron
First let me say, I have been painting my own bikes since I was a kid. And (eegad!) that was nearly 40 years ago! I have always been a do-it-yourself'r and always wanted to do the best I could do myself.
Turns out, alot about a great paintjob has to do with the materials used.
And prep for said materials!
I have done some whacky rattle can jobs that looked great!...after 6 months of cure time!
Next I got a compressor & spray gun and airbrush. And I moved to the quick dry versatility of laquer, only to find it falls off when you sneeze at it!
Then a friend gave me some Deltron (2 part paint made by PPG, similar to DuPont Imron)
WOW!...WOW!! Amazing stuff! Just what I had been looking for, paint that rivaled factory finishes!
So I "hung out a shingle" and started Ideal Bicycle Painting. circa 1987.
And now, after a nearly decade long hiatus to change diapers, I am available to apply the utmost in paint finishes to your favorite frame. Prices start at a no-frills
single color with clear...$300
Add decals and clear....$500+
Lug masking/panels......$700+
This is exponetialy higher than rattle-canning it youself. Which, BTW, can be a lot of fun! That's how I started out.;)
Thing is, I use very expensive top quality automotive paints. And have years of experience applying it to bicycles. But I'm just one guy. So it can sometimes take awhile. And if you have the budget and dare to challenge some pretty stinky fumes, you too can spray with auto paint.
