Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. I have been having a saddle sore problem and have read many posts that do not seem to address it. It is not a classic saddle sore from chafing; it is a sore bump from pressure. It appears on the right side of my crotch area between this and that always slightly on the right side. I do not think it is a "pimple" as it seems to be something under the skin. Since it shows up as a bump, lotions and the like appear irrelevant. I ride a Brooks Champion Special B.17 on one bike which I love and occasionally a WTB Comfort Zone on another bike. This is a new problem in the last year or two and flairs up if I ride a hilly 20+ miles or a couple of shorter mountain rides two days in a row. I am just past sixty and I have been riding for decades. Any ideas?
Nope. I had something like that for a week or two. It went away. It may or may not have been related to breaking in a new Brooks. Anyhow, I kept the same position more or less, just less weight on the saddle.

When you say, 'it flairs up', does this mean it's always there? If so, maybe you should see a doctor. Being a hypochondriac, I get all bumps checked out.
Yeah, I'd say if you've got a bump or lump under your skin, I'd ask a doc to look at it. Better safe than sorry.

Go to the Doc and get a steroid cream, and try to stay off the bike for a week or two.
I had a really bad case of chafing/saddle sores last fall, and when it got to the point of being unbearable to ride, I fortunately came down with mono which kept me off the bike for a month and a half. I used the cream for about two weeks, and being off the bike helped to clear everything completely up.
I then got a few pairs of Assos F1 Uno bibs (was using PI Ultrasensors which I hated) and haven't had any issues since.

I had tons of saddle sores similar to the one you described. All of them disappeared when I changed from powder to liquid in the washing machine. Just an heads up.

I had a similar bump that refused to go away with more powerful prescription creams. The doc took great satisfaction in lancing the cycst and there have been no problems since.

Might be an ingrown hair or a cyst. Go to a doctor.
