I am at the point now that I have to change the brake pads on my road bike. I was wondering which pads that are Shimano compatible are considered the best? I know that with rim brakes on a MTB the XTR's are considered about the best. Does this translate over to the road and Dura Ace is the best? Are there any after market makers that have exceptional pads?
Any suggestions or feedback would be appreciated.

Check out the new Jagwire pads and complete line of products.

Also the Kool Stop pads are excellent.
