Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. I don't know about "big", but my focus has been the Housatonic Hills Road Race here in CT....I guess it's pretty popular from what I hear.

Every race I enter. This is my 16th season and when I look back on my years, the season's that were best, were the ones I trained/raced consistently. "A" races are for ProTour guys paid to get results at certain times of year.
Besides, why does everyone try to peak for the same things all the time. State champs, national champs, local big money events. Everyone is gunning for those. Forget all the pressure of "key" races and try each and every week to get a result or help your team do so.

My thoughts exactly. If you're looking for upgrade points, it doesn't make sense to try to peak for the same events everyone else is. I'm looking to win some mid-size regional crits/RRs. If I can pull out good results in the bigger events I'm going to/may enter like the Georgia Cup races and maybe Green Mountain then cool - but it won't be my season focus.

Cmon down! I'm focusing on the GA cup GC points race and the Georgia championships omnium. Also want to win a race around Raleigh, NC so my folks can watch.
Fresh Air Experience Fantastic Four Stage Race
Mt. Hood
Superweek
Downers Grove
Warp Speed Time Trial
Snake Alley
Okayama Enduro
edit: I just realized that we don't have cool names for our races like everybody else...ours is Albany TT, Crit, RR...then Gainesville TT, Crit, RR, etc etc. The big stage races are named after someone. I want a Gorge of Eternal Peril Road Race, dammit!
El Diablo Rojo
02-01-07, 05:35 AM
Tour of New Braunfels stage race
Lago Vista day 2
Feyetteville stage race
Fort Davis stage race. This is the one for me, it suits my strengths and I really love this event.

sounds a bit like what i'll be looking forward to, except it's a race around a purpose built cycling circuit (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=Sportpark+Sloten,+1066+Amsterdam,+Amsterdam+(North+Holland),+Netherlands&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=33.489543,78.925781&ie=UTF8&om=1&z=15&ll=52.342655,4.807205&spn=0.012611,0.052614&t=k&iwloc=addr).

Hey man, I'll see you down in GA later this season. I hope to return to Dahlonega (a name that still strikes fear into my legs ) in June. Hopefully 27lbs lighter than last year so I can do better than 19th/50ish in the omni.

Is it that "track" that goes around the sports fields?
Is it that "track" that goes around the sports fields?
yep. it's basically a road, with sweeping corners. there's a small 'hill', which is a bridge over the road that pedestians use to enter the park. you won't get dropped on it, but it can blow your rythm when you're in a break.
btw - the white oval is a velodrome.

For me targeting a few events I want to do well in helps my motivation. First goal will be to do well in the Jacksonville Cycling Classic. (which for the Pros is an NRC event and starting to be a very nice race.)
Next goal will be the State TT championship.
And the third goal will be Everest Challenge, which I'll do well to finish in the time limits, but it gives me something to shoot for.
I take it we won't be seeing these on 'Versus'.
They'll be on ESPN 8.... "The ocho." :D

Oh yeah I forgot to add the state skill based ITT and TTT in July. I'm doing about 7 more races this season but in a support role. We have two really fast guys who can win the bunch sprints so I'll be there to help them.

Online Registration is closed.
Event registration may still be available race-day or by mail.

Looks like this race is for Cat 1-4 only. Not a race for a newbie like me. GW any good races that a first timer might enjoy in the New England area?

I was thinking about doing that, but didn't feel like staying up until or waking up at 3AM to register.
So far my "A" races on my schedule are Sea Otter, Mt. Hamilton & the Cascade Classic Stage Race.
I really wanted to do Hood, but I can't take a week off from work then.

We only have 6 SaskCups here so I'm just going to focus on all of them. As well I'm really looking forward to our club race series, they have a TTT this year that should be fun :D
