Pics??? :D Glad you guys had a great ride today. I didn't go near my bike so it's nice to read that others did! You had some gorgeous weather out there for sure.

Today was a perfect day for a ride! Absolutely perfect weather and good friends, can't get better than that! It was so nice to see all of you again... I've missed riding with you! Good to meet Pat (ocroadie) and Peter (jaguar) finally. Peter, hope you're feeling better soon.

Live Oak Cyn was a beautiful ride (except for the part when the jerk on the motorcycle was slowing down and gesturing at all of us). I had been avoiding that road, it's SCARY! :p

Looking forward to the next ride. :D

It was good meeting you, Mateo and Mel, too bad I missed saying hi to Phil and Peter. We saw you guys coming through the canyon in the opposite direction, and I gave what I could manage of a wave, while I was in a little "spot of bother" :) The weather was great today, after Como, Pico and I took Canon/Santa Ana Canyon Rd to Weir Canyon, where we hopped on SART, and had a good time trading pulls home. It's too bad that you guys had to deal with jerks on Live Oak, that's one of my favorite stretches of OC, but the lack of shoulder and d*ckhead drivers, can be a problem.

Did you guys do Modjeska?

I have to say, you Guys are the nicest bunch I've ever met.....I just feel bad I slowed you all down...I started to feel sick (again) and it just went downhill from there...I feel really rubbish right now...

But despite all that, I really enjoyed meeting you all....and a big thank you again for waiting and for isits towing me close to home....

Sorry to hear about your chain hocuz...and OC, if I'd known it was you I would have given a bigger wave...it's hard to recognise peeps from a distance when they wearing sunnies and a Helmet....

Anyway, I had a blast, hope to see you all soon!!

Fun ride, everyone! Nice meeting, you, Jaguar - sorry you weren't feeling well. We'll have to do it again when you're feeling better!

Hocuz - hope there was no damage to your bike. I'll donate a dork disc for you. :p

Definityly a fun ride and an awesome day for it. Kudos to Peter for giving his best, I hope he comes back when he fells better.

Live Oak was awesome. Xtort was right, it's only about a half a mile, then there's the booming downhill. Cars and motorcycles can be a bit sketchy but I think it's worth the bother.

Couldn't get any takers on Modjeska, maybe now that a lot of you took my advice and rode Live Oak, you'll give Modjeska a shot.

Good to see you all and hope to see youi again soon.

Modjeska isn't that bad, if you can do Live Oak then you can do Modjeska. It's too bad you guys ran into some jerks on Live Oak. Usually the drivers are quite courteous because of the lack of any shoulder.

I was in the parking lot for the start of Como and I saw a few So Cal BF riders, and Voltman. I should've stopped by, but I didn't, and now I'm kicking myself because if I did, I'd feel a little bit more e-famous :D

Note to self: introduce yourself to local BF riders. lol

The ride and company was great! James and I thought about doing Modjeska, but decided against it. As for the sandbagging, I was trying to tell how little I've been on the bike, and I am amazed that I did as well as I did, but I still have a long way to go before April 14th. At least I have a century next weekend and I will start to build my endurance there, then I only have hills left to improve on. :)

After a few months, I will start doing Como Street so that I can pick up my speed.

i'm that other guy that you forgot :(
my chain was lodged in there pretty good and i wasn't able to pull it out. i had a friend pick me up and my chain is back on the cog now. the rear derailleur is skipping a little so i'll take a look at that later.

hocuz, did you get your problem fixed? Did you check to see if the Cassette is loose? I have a Cassette tool if you need it...if that's not the prob then the upper/lower adjustment screws need adjusting...if you need any help let me know...I'll pm my cell # to you and address if you want to bring the bike round...

I had the same problem on my bike once...plus, on one ride all the Bolts holding the chainrings on fell out  except one...I was able to finger tight the remaining one and limp home...

Hey Jaguar. Thanks for the offer but I think I figured it out. Somehow, one link of my chain is/was stuck. I think I freed it up now but I'll see if I have any problems when I head out on the bike again. That one link still feels stiffer than the rest so I'll have to wait and see if I'll be needing a new chain. Anyone else had this problem before??

That link is likely binding. You can try bending the link side to side to free it up... but judging on how mangled it was in there, it's probably bent. You can replace the link, although new chains are fairly cheap. SRAMs are always on sale at Performance. Good job, by the way, keeping the bike under control and getting your foot down with the back locked up!

I'll try giving the chain a go tomorrow. Maybe I'll pick up a new chain anyway.. Will SRAM 10 speed chains work if I am running Shimano 10 speed? I know that you can use SRAM chains on the mountain bike but not sure about the road bikes.

And come to think of it, yeah, it could have ended up pretty ugly...

Did the chain lodge into the spokes or between the crank and stays?

I agree with chimivee...

You still need to make sure the Cassette is tight and the upper limit is adjusted ok otherwise it could happen again....
