I must be the only Guy in the US not watching the SB on Sunday, we've been invited to various Parties but I don't really understand the Game, so if anyone fancies doing the BB on SBS let me know...preferably in the morning....

Cheers then!!

PS, How come the Lakers aren't in it this year?

Maybe cause the Angels beat 'em?

There was some talk of doing Santiago Canyon on Sunday (although I'm not sure the others realized it was SBS). Interested?

I'll take any opportunity I can not to watch football.

I so want to watch the football game, but then I realized that someone can TIVO it for me and I can fast forward through the game to watch all the commercials later on (they will be on YouTube as well)... so I am down for a ride in the BB or Santiago..

I used to watch football ALL the time. Now I just see it as a time to get the family together for a BBQ and suds. Besides last year I got a nice DLP HD TV to watch game, it really makes watching sports a whole different experience.

Ext and Chimvee...I'd love to do a ride with you Guys...and anyone else who wants to join...problem is, I was sick for a month, bronchitis etc that lingered for ever...then we moved, so I've lost a lot of riding time there...so basically I haven't done a "good" ride since before xmas...:( It's just been the BB for me whenever I've had time/not been sick...so I deffinately need to get some serious saddle time in...I'll only hold you Guys back on Santiago...but could we do Santiago from where we live Extort? What area do you live Chimvee?? Where would we ride from/to?

I have not been on the bike other than the 60 miles on Jan 1 and a BB loop a week and a half ago, so I could claim the sandbagging award. We will suffer together behind Chimivee...

We can leave from our area and meet Chimivee at Jamboree and Chapman(?) if necessary

I don't understand the game of football either. I'll be working but closing shop early at 3pm as I do every SB Sunday due to lack of business.

Jaguar and Extort, can you meet us at the Tustin Market Place by 8am for the Santiago Cyn loop? So far it's, Mateo44, Mel44, Brandy, Voltman and me. I'm sure we'll grab a bite to eat there afterwards as well. Someone suggested meeting at the Red Robin parking lot. As always, all are welcome.

Hey now, I've been off the bike nearly as much as you guys for January... I went for a ride yesterday and was ready to turn around at mile 8 (but I stuck it out 'til mile 10!). I think Brandy will actually be doling out the suffering (ask her about her latest exploit).

Cool, that means that I can bring the tow rope and we can be on the receiving end this time!

You guys should just jump in the Como Street ride, it leaves Red Robin at 8:00am. I think I might be ready to go get my ass handed to me by the fast/long group :p

I plan on doing Como St long route (up Bake, around Trabuco/Live Oak). I'll see how I feel Sunday morning, I've been pushing the pace this week, and my back is sore. Either way, I'll see you guys at the start :D

Sounds good, trip time is about 15 minutes if we are pushing it, but I'd suggest 25-30 minutes since we are both out of shape. We can meet at the corner of Alton and Harvard ~7:30AM

Santiago to Cooks (or maybe Live Oak?) and back should take about 3.5 - 4 hours. We have an additional 10 miles over the others and it is a 35 mile round trip with plenty of climbing. If we do Live Oak, then add anoth hour and about 8 miles...
plenty of time to finish before the super stupid bowl

Thanks...I was able to get 67+ miles in http://trail.motionbased.com/trail/activity/2024293, including Back Bay, Santiago Canyon, Newport Coast (both ways ;) ) and Ridge Park, which was MUCH easier with my compact crank and 12-27...or at least it seemed that way. Also saw my largest road kill to date, a fawn on Portola :( and got to witness the Food Park ride first hand and their tendency to blow through red lights...I can see why Cleave said that now! It was a slow ride as I just wasn't feeling well with this cold coming on. I'm kind of glad that my childcare for the morning fell through, I know I would have come out to ride with all of you because I miss you all, but I need to stay off the bike and get better right now.

Have a safe and fun ride tomorrow!

Got back at around 12:30. Excellent day for riding. There was me, Extort, Chimivee, Madd Mike, Mateo, Mel, Jaguar, Voltman, Tiffanie, and one other guy whose name I forget (sorry). It was around 60 degrees when we started, but it warmed up pretty quickly. All the arm warmers, leg warmers, and jackets came off when we turned onto Santiago Canyon. We had another regroup at the top of the hill before the long descent to Cook's Corners. I asked who made it there first and found that it was a tie between the two biggest sandbaggers: Chimivee and Extort. I think I see a pattern. The more they complain about not being 100% for a ride, the quicker you're going to have your ***** handed to you. :)

Anyway, Peter wasn't feeling all that great today (really), so I decided to accompany him back. We went down El Toro to the bike path and took that to Trabucco road. Then it was back to the Tustin Marketplace for me. Peter and I parted ways at Culver. Then, since I was in the area, I had to go to Performance and drop a couple of $20 bills.

Had fun, everyone. How was Live Oak?

i'm that other guy that you forgot :(

i had to cut the ride short as well, near el toro and portola. my chain decided it was no fun riding on the cog and thought that it would be interesting to try and ride the spokes. (would the disc have prevented that, probably. will i put it on? who knows..) my chain was lodged in there pretty good and i wasn't able to pull it out. i had a friend pick me up and my chain is back on the cog now. the rear derailleur is skipping a little so i'll take a look at that later. thanks to maddmike and james for hanging out and trying to help me out.

thanks for the ride and hope there were no more hiccups for the rest of the ride.

Today was a perfect day for a ride! Absolutely perfect weather and good friends, can't get better than that! It was so nice to see all of you again... I've missed riding with you! Good to meet Pat (ocroadie) and Peter (jaguar) finally. Peter, hope you're feeling better soon.

Live Oak Cyn was a beautiful ride (except for the part when the jerk on the motorcycle was slowing down and gesturing at all of us). I had been avoiding that road, it's SCARY! :p

Looking forward to the next ride. :D
