Mountain Biking - Brake cables? (for avid discs)

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I just installed the Avid discs on my bike last night , got up to the cable installation point and am trying to make up my mind. I have a set of Avids stainless cables, with the stainless tube sections and I am not sure if I want them on my bike. I would prefer one continuous cable over the cable/tube combo.
Any suggestions? Is the rigid section give any added benifits over a flexible cable?
Thanks

My Avid mechanicals work just fine with LX levers and stock cables without any tubes. Great set of brakes.
I use Avid SDs with stock cables, no problems. Brand name cables is one thing I've always been a little skeptical of. There may be improvements, less stretching etc. But when you consider that a stock cable costs 1-2 bucks... I just don't know if I'd bother.
I'm running them with Avid AD 3's, some $6 teflon cables and regular Shi*No housings I've got no complaints so far.
