Mountain Biking - azonic propulsion?

Anyone ridden one of these? If so how did you like it? How does it compare to other XC FS bikes? Is it stiff? It looks pretty nice and I can get a pretty good deal on the frame so I'm thinking about one. I am looking for a good xc bike that can be raced but will be mostly used for fast, long xc fun rides. If racing it will be expert semi pro level. Thanks

As far as the frame, I don't know. I've never seen or ridden one. It isn't even listed at mtbr?

Most likely a re-brand of a bigger name's model, but I don't know which.

I used to race semipro a couple years ago. I've been doing lots of roadie stuff and triathlons lately. I'm thinking about getting back into mtb racing again, but I want a full suspension bike now.

The frame is listed at mtbr but last I checked it had no reviews, I'll check again. I'm thinking this frame would be pretty decent being a four bar linkage but probably not the best for hardcore racing, but I was looking to see if anyone had any experience with this.

I haven't ridden one, but a read a review in a mag and they liked it. The design is essentially a 4-bar with a rocker arm, similar to Kona's design. It's a design that has evolved over the years. I wouldn't mind owning one of these frames.

Azonic is well respected and all frames from them are top-notch. I can't think of anything negative about it. Except the air shock. I personally like Coil-Overs, but that's just me.

Read reviews on any of the kona 4 bar xc bikes and you ride will be similar. :)

I will say this, my LBS is an Azonic dealer but none of them will ride one.

The frames do not feel all that strong and the welds do not look great either. Azonic is just down the street from me and they give great deals to some of the local riders but none of them ride their frames.

When I go to the races I will see less then a handfull of riders with an Azonic frame. The 2004 frames are supposed to be better but I have not seen them yet.

For the price, in my opinion, you could do better.

If it's a XC bike it's not like he'll be banging the hell out of it anyway. It's a tried and true design that lots of other bike companies are using.. and if you get a decent price on it I'd say go for it. Azonic makes a freeride bike that is identical to the Ellsworth ID in terms of functionality, but for half the price. I was looking at it.. seemed like a sweet deal to me.

This is the kind of info I was looking for. I do not want a flexy bike. I want some thing that is rock solid, that will hold whatever line its pointed at be somewhat isolated from the pedal stroke. The more I research it the new Specialized may be the best thing for me. The blur looks sweet as hell also. I may go and try to ride both bikes this weekend. Then I'll need to work on getting a deal or sponsorship or something on either of those two frames.
