I'm passing this year, Scott. I've done that ride for the past three years (+ the prelude). But it is a good one, for sure. Have fun. :)

You should meet up with Scott. He's a blast to ride with. He'll even sing along the route (he's part of the funny singing duet members I allude to in the Ladies Night Out thread). The man can sing! And he'll joke and basically never lose energy. Anyway, you guys will have fun in Solvang...I love it up there. :)

Only if its raining. Actually, leg warmers & arm warmers, with a vest to start by 10-11 you'll be warm and may want to take the warmers off.

I'm doing the 55 mile at palm springs. It's a 'warm up' ride for Solvang.

My wife and I are both signed up for the Solvang Century 2007. I have to pass on the Solvang Double this year since I have to work the Taiwan Bike Show, but hopefully the weather for BOTH Solvang Centuries (single and double) will be better than last year!
Best Regs,
Rick / OCRR
I'm considering this ride since it's on a weekend when I don't have my daughter, but I hate to drive. The last time I did this ride, it was 1991 and was a beautiful day.
I'm registered for it, and my wife is doing the half. We did the Metric / 25 in November, and had a great time. We're also staying for the weekend to take advantage of the good wineries in the area.

same here!
too bad i'll be missing the woodland hills ride this weekend... d'oh!
Everyone is saying rain last year? You all must have missed the part I rode (Century). I was in the cold rain, lighting, thunder and three hail storms one of which laid down hail on the road. If it is just cold this year I will be in heaven.

We are not sure what we are doing at PS...but maybe 65miles... start on the century route and turn off at the 50 miler turn..is 65!
Wish I could do Solvang..but will be in NY...

I'll be riding this year. Rode two years ago and really enjoyed it. Planned to ride last year but when we saw the rain, lightening and hail decided to head back home to SLO. Haven't decided on the 50 or 100 mile ride. If my son rides with me will probably do the 50, and add a few more extra miles to make it a metric.

I'll be there. My husband too. I hear it can be very cold?Yes, it can. The first time I did it, (1989), it was 30 degrees at the start. I was not prepared for that and my feet got so numb, I almost fell down when I got off the bike. I've done the ride twice with cold rain and once with hail. Hail stings on bare legs, like thousands of BBs. It's usually quite nice late morning to afternoon, but one time it was so windy, we called it "The Wind Tunnel Century". Done it 9 times, but I'm tired of the long drive/motel thing.

Send a quick message my way if ya wanna ride, meet, eat or wine taste. I'll have wife and kidz there, so I can't be too rowdy. Probably too tired after the ride to get into too much trouble in any event!
So glad you're all gobethere!
No Hail pleeze!!!!!!!!!!!! That was painful last year!

I live in Solvang and the weather is usually great for Century this time of year. Last year was a total freak of nature! This local forecast (http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?query=93463) is almost always "spot on."
Why not also come here for the sure-to-be-awesome Tour of Cailfornia Stage 5 - Individual Time Trials on Friday, Feb. 23rd? If you bring your bike, you'll receive free bike valet parking right in the downtown area next to the Amgen Lifestyle Festival and avoid the traffic and CARS! Plus, you'll have the only mobility during the day of the ITT course (14.6 miles) as all 144 riders compete. Here's the official Solvang Stage 5 website: http://www.tourofcalifornia-solvang.com/

This is the Sandy Eggo, even though Joel didn't use the name as the title: http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=265475
It lands on my birthday. I'm such a nut, I'm spending that day...on...my...bike. :p

That would be outstanding. So does anyone want to meet and form a not-too-fast, but not-slow-either paceline? Would be nice to save some energy on the flats. For reference, I usually average 16-18 mph solo over rolling terrain.
