Hey Everybody-

Just rescued a trek mtb frame from someone's shed. This will be my ghetto beater bike, but i need to get rid of some minor rust first. I dont really care if it looks good, actually, i want it to look like crap. What kind of paint should i use to paint the spots that i have sanded the rust off of? Krylon? Rust-o-lium? Something else cheap? Thanks again!

Flat grey Rustoleum with some pink (bondo looking) splotches at the various joints. A bit of gloss black overspray splatter will help uglify. Wait here's one :D mask the brake track and spoke nipples with masking tape then spray paint the rims with the tires still on being sure to get plenty on the tire side walls. By masking the brake track and the nipples you won't lose any safety or give yourself problems in the trueing department later.

Try a forums search about repainting. I think there was thread about repainting in either this section or the bike mechanics section lately. It mentioned preparation, as well as what kinds of painted people think work best.

I just touched up my bike with hammerite (glass-reinforced paint). It works pretty well.
