One of the family's dear cycling buddies (whose name isn't to be mentioned upon request of his wife) was riding on Saturday when an irresponsible bus driver pulled out and hit him in the back of the head with his mirror. Before I continue though, let me tell you some things about this guy.
He's incredibly intelligent and had a HUGE amount of stock in MCI and was smart enough to sell before the technology crash. With the money he made he was able to retire in his late 30's and now rides every day. As a matter of fact, not but a couple of years ago he was in a race with another person for the most miles in one year in America as he would ride about 100 EVERY day of the week.
Continuing the story, the bus driver realized what he did and zoomed away from the scene rapidly. I personally think he should have been charged with involuntary manslaughter. However, he did recieve another charge for poor driving or some such crime, though I still feeel justice was not done.
The rider put up quite a struggle in the hospital, but it was all in vain for yesterday, he sadly left this earth. He was a true class act and should be a model to all young riders (myself included) and I'm sure his presence will be missed by all who were close to him, and hopefully even you guys will be with his family through this tough time.
