Road Cycling - Falcon???

There is an add in the local paper for a Falcon 10-speed racing bike. Has anyone heard of the company, if so is the bike worth the $50 they are asking for to fix up for a second roadie/commuter?

My dad had a Falcon and so did a good friend, back in the early 70's with Campy. An English bike of moderate to high quality. Could be a neat bike to own. My friend drilled out every thing on the bike as was the craze then...u shoulda seen brake levers,chain rings, drop outs...was a sight to behold

Depends on the model. As Jkoman said it was an English company. They were the first, I believe, to put out Eddy Merckx labelled bikes.

Their better models were Reynolds 531 and Campy and are easily worth $50. Lower line models may or may not suit your needs. Definitely worth taking a look in any case though I'm more than a bit of a vintage bike junkie.

I would vote yes as long as it is straight and there is no sand in the tubes. You can mostly use the components installed as a gauge to quality... but with a marquee like Flacon your odds are fairly good of landing a nice vintage bike.

I have a Falcon Majorca 5 speed from 1979. They were well designed, ride well, and the high end 531 models were very well made. The lower range frames were typical 1970s sports bike, made of straight guage mid-weight chromoly type steel.

Anyone know anything about Healing cycles?
