Hi,
I'm just getting back into road cycling (Been away for about 10 years). I raced collegiate in my early twenties, USCF in my mid twenties then burned out when I got to Cat 3.
Anyway I just picked up a vintage (that sounds so funny) mid eighties Panasonic DX-3000 frame and from off EBay.
http://www.igomotorsports.com/panasonic/pana_dx3000_orig.jpg
I'm in the process of restoring it and updating the components to modern Shimano Ultegra 9-speed. The frame is off at the powder coaters as we speak.
My first question is can anyone tell me what year this frame is from. (I remember the serial number was on the head tube and started "7D0?????" The sticker on the seat tube said "Tange 2 Double Butted" and the fork sticker said "Mangaloy Manganese Alloy Tubing 2001 Tange"
The second question is there anyone making/selling "Tange" and/or "Panasonic" bike decals? I searched the web and found everything but what I was looking for.
Thanks in advance.
Ivan

Nice find. The seven is the second digit in the year and the D is the month. A = January.....D = April.
Probably a 1987 bike. This is two steps down from the top of the line Panasonic - DX5000.
I can offer no help on the stickers.
+1 on the recommendation about Velographic. Mike's work is spoken of highly in here, and he's working on a set of vintage Bob Jackson decals for me right now. If the end result is anything like the proofs which he's emailed, I'm impressed.
Nice frame, that will be a good bike when your done!

Thanks for the help. I believe it's an 87 as well.

Nice looking panasonic. What color you having it powder coated?
Mike of Velographics is great. I am eagerly awaiting the decal set for my Gazelle. :D
Look forward to seeing it fully built up. If it's anything like the other Tange frames I've been on, you won't be disappointed by the ride of the Panasonic.
btw: how tall are you? That looks like one mighty big frame!

I'm getting the frame powder coated Baby Blue (I'm thinking about either white or black Panasonic decals).
My first "real" road racing bike back in college was a Diamond Back Master TG (tange tubing) with 105 7 speed and down tube shifters.
I'm 6'5". The frame is a 63cm (64cm center-to-top).

Nice find!!!
I have a DX5000 and it's sweet!!!!! I'm going to paint mine also, but I'm waiting for winter to end.
It's a really nice ride, you will enjoy it. BTW, by the SN, it's most definitely a 1987.

Does any part of the serial number on Panasonic frames have anything to do with frame size?
