It's new kit time...again It seems like each year something changes and this year it's new sponsors. So we're encouraged to order new kits. I didn't have any bad spills, so last season's stuff is in pretty great shape. So I'm a bit annoyed, but not enough to not order the new stuff...it is after all, supporting the team and sponsors.

But what do you with the old kits, or even the ones from teams you no longer belong to? I know, it's totally stupid...but I start thinking about stupid things when I've been on the trainer too long... (But I don't think this one is as stupid as wondering what we could do with all the wasted energy from all the bike trainers that spin up in the winter...)

I'll wear old stuff for everything but "official" events: team rides, races, photos, etc.

As long as it's not a race, or team pics, I'm in the old kit. Hell, I still wear the ones from before the major uniform overhaul(went from primary red, white and royal blue to navy and dark red).

No. I'm on a new team this year. I do wear the old bib shorts on the trainer from time to time though.

Last season's stuff may have old sponsor logos on them. You want to promote current sponsors.

Last year was my first year in a club, so I wore my team jersey EVERYWHERE. This year, I can save my new 2007 kit for race days, and use my last year's kit for training.

It also saves time doing laundry, and handwashing my shorts every night. I now have three pairs of shorts, so I can ride three times before I have to do laundry.

Wear the old kits in bad weather, for solo rides, and off season training and save the new ones for races and big team rides.

The old ones have been demoted to commuting rides or when it is raining and I know it will get dirty.

Current kit is reserved for big team rides, pictures, and races. Other than that I think it would be a huge waste to let older kit to set idle when it is still useable. Who cares if you're out on a solo ride and you're not in the most up to date kit! Just my opinion.

Clothing from past teams gets used on the trainer and in crummy-weather-solo-training-rides where no one will see me.

As long as it's not a race or an organised team ride, I don't see any problem in wearing an old kit.

For me, kits from teams I no longer belong to are worn on solo rides, old kits from the same team are worn on informal rides with teammates, and the current kit is worn for official team rides and races.

I have a 7-11 kit that is at least 18 years old. I doubt it fits now.
