Looks decent enough for the price i reckon.

There's lots of similar bikes from many manufacturers +/- 20 quid. Tell him to ride a bunch of them and buy the most comfortable one. The difference in components will be negligible and if he has a frame he finds comfortable, spending money on it down the road will be worth it.

At the bottom level I don't think any frames are superior, I think it's more about what kind of deal you can find at your pricepoint.
