Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Ok, so I made my first commute today on my Ibex Corrida. Man, it was awesome. Now I don't have anything nearly as long as most of you on here. My commute was like a matter of 1 mile one way. So it was pretty easy. But it was just real nice to get out of the truck and just ride to work. No major distractions. Just free road. No gas prices. It feels good. When I got to work, everyone laughed. But most people there thought it was actually kinda cool. My goal is to give up driving so much and riding 90% of the time. The driving will come in when I am with my lady or making big errands. If there is anyone out there looking for a good affordable commuter bike, check out ibexbikes.com . They have amazing prices with awesome components. It would really be hard to beat their deals. One thing though, I already know I have to change saddles. This one is way to uncomfortable. Maybe a Brooks? :D

Another thing is, I need to get a light. Since I dont go to work till 5:00 P.M. and don't get off till Midnight or so, I need a light for the night riding.

Thanks for all the info everyone is giving.

Wow, that looks like a pretty sweet bike. I'm kinda partial to flatbar roadbikes myself, I don't care what anyone else thinks about them.

You must really like your Ibex as nearly all of your posts so far mention it and how everyone needs to go check it out.

Almost seems like...hmm...no, I'm probably wrong so I won't say it.

Every time I drive to work, I'm reminded why I bike to work.
I don't need any bikes or components though, thanks anyway.

Congrats on the commute.
Since you don't have to be at work until 5PM why not make the ride to work a little longer?

That is my plan. I am going to try to make a trip to the library everyday or try to save my errands till right before work. That way I can have some more time riding.

+ 1

I've begun to figure out how to 'add in' an errand on my way to work. This week I stopped by eyeglass center on the way in. Added about another mile and a half.
The next day I rode my bike from office to a lunch meeting and added about 2 miles to the day's ride. BTW, my RT commute is 8 miles so my little 'errands' are modestly pushing my daily mileage up to 10 - 12 miles.

Congrats on the commuting! Keep it up!
