Cannondale RT3000 weight?

Cannondale doesn't list the weight of the RT3000 in their specs. Does anyone have an idea what it is? I understand there will be some variation in weight with different components, but I'm more interested in finding out the general number (ie, is it in the low 30s, mid 30s, etc. is close enough).

We already have a Trek T2000 (weighs low 30s) & are looking for a 2nd tandem for our vacation home. We'll be doing a lot of hills.

I've seen them as light as 33lbs and as heavy as 44lbs; it all depends. I would think high 30's would be about the average comparison weight for a large size frame. 36ish for a Medium/Small.

Hopefully a few folks will "weigh-in" (so to speak) who have C'dale RT1000 or RT3000's that have actually weighed their bikes.

We had a couple Cannondales in the past. Our last C'dale (2002) was 34 pounds, M/S frame with Ultegra, carbon fork & bars, Campy Atlanta/White Ind. wheels. Our 1st one (1998) was 39 pounds, with no upgrades.

FYI our RT3000 (2006), mainly Shimano, disk brakes, TruVativ cranks, looks like steel rings, some long cage rear derailleur. MD/SM size or whatever is the smallest.

Our modifications were:
1. putting on our seats (titanio and terry butterfly ti)
2. putting on our pedals (SPD R and the base model old Looks)
3. installing Campy Veloce Ergo levers.
4. putting the longest stem in the shop on the front.

37.5 lbs on the shop digital scale. I don't think we had cages on at that point.

Since then we've updated the rear cowhorns to drops and added brake levers in back so it probably weighs a bit more.

For climbing (around here it's up to 1 mile but some grades are 10-12% or more), the bike seems fine. Any weight issues are with the riders, not the bike! Reasonably responsive. Geared way too low though. I'll be putting a closer ratio cassette on to tighten up the gears.

Thanks for the info! I see you're in CT (we're in ME). Do you mind my asking where you got your bike & what you paid for it (before modifications)? Looking for a good price on one that's within driving distance.

For comparison purposes, I have a 1996 or 1997 C'Dale RT2000 and it weighed in at right around 40 lbs.

We got our bike from a shop that sponsors the team I run (and they plan on sponsoring the race this year with primes). So the price question is probably not fair as we got a good deal on it. To try and help the shop, we assembled the bike on our time (I've assembled a few bikes in my time), gave back the (new) STI levers, the two seats, and I offered to pay him a margin. I've been trying to pay him a few hundred dollars margin but he hasn't accepted it yet although currently my "balance" at the shop is $425 in their favor, i.e. I've "overpaid" them $425. Which is what I want so I've left it alone each time I've gone in to buy things afterwards.

We also ordered the bike unseen based on my experience riding a Cannondale tandem 10 years or more years prior. I'm pretty sure the frame hasn't changed too much. We didn't ask for a specific delivery date but the bike, ordered very casually with a deposit put down in Oct 05, arrived in Feb 06.

Thanks for all the responses. We just put a deposit down on a 2005 leftover Trek T2000 (we already have a 2003, so the 2 bikes will be similar). The bike shop will do some reconfiguring for us & we should have it in about a month.
