Hi

I'm currently living in Hong Kong and own a Cannondale F800SL.

I'm going to USC @ LA this Fall. I very much anticipate cycling at LA, can u guys gime an idea of how it's like? And how's the racing scene there?

I'm also thinking of whether mailing my bike to the US or buying a new one there. Also very interested in getting into Road Cycling there.

Should I mail? Buy a Mtn Bike or Rd Bike first? Etc.

Thanks for you advice! =)

Mail the bike and buy a MTB when you get here :)

Cycling is fairly popular out here due to the weather, not sure how much it will cost to ship your bike from hong kong. Be sure to check the airline they might let you bring it on the airplane for about the same cost or less.

Lots of cycling both road and MTB. I used to live in Pasadena (on the north side of LA). In the car for ten minutes and I was at the base of the mountains. I hope you like climbing!!!! Mt. Wilson toll road (a fire road) for example. 10 miles to the top and about 5200 ft (IIRC) of climbing. And 10 miles down!!!!!!!

Also in Pasadena at the Rose Bowl there is a road ride that does laps on the road around there. The pack is 80 - 100 riders and they are FAST. Some pros and olympians are usually out front.

Supergo is in Santa Monica, and Laguna hills. Check their web site (supergo.com) before you bring your bike. They have some insaine deals at the stores.

Here is a good local forum for LA
