Foo - Rant : People who leave their vehicles at the pumps.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I bike everywhere so maybe I am a little sensitive to this phenomenon, but I
needed to get the car serviced for an upcoming trip to another state and
had it happen again while I was waiting to partake of this most undesirable chore.
This is the equivalant of the supermarket boorhog who uses the 15-item-lane
with a cart full of stuff........This, like that, has happened more than once.
~People who fill up thier vehicle and leave it blocking the pumps and go into the
store and 10 minutes later come out with a bag of stuff. Is this acceptable
to people who car often ?? To me, its rude, boorish behavior. Move your car
Dammit !!

That's normal....I do this as well myself, since some attendants might flip out and knee-jerk a "OMG he tried to run, even thogh it was 15ft to the parking space without paying OMFG OMFG OMFGGGGGGGGGGGZ"

Never make assumptions about the rationality of people, all that can come out of it is being proven they are far more irrational than you thought.

I work 1 day a week at a gas station. I would rather they stay at the pump & come in to pay.
Most people have no clue what pump they are/were at. Most people don't know what their total is.
When they move from the pump and then come in its 10 min trying to figure where they were
and if another vehicle has pulled up to the pump they were at, that only confuses them.

I prefer they pay with a credit card at the pump, then pull up to come in & shop.
Problem solved!:)

well, I stay at the pump and if it takes me a minute it's cause they might be busy, Id be scared to park my car elsewhere and have people think Im running away, however last summer there was a gas station with an extreme long line, I mean they had the cheapest gas and we have to wait at least 6 car behind to get gas, this guy who obviously knew how busy it was went in to pay but he ended up taking his sweet time, everyone started noticing saying where is that jerk! he's done for 15 minutes gives someone else a turn! well, another 10 went by and someone got into the store to tell him to move and there he was reading a newspaper! everyone started screaming at him!!! I thought a fight was going to break out from all this!

I've onlyl seen this once or twice. But i think it took 20 minutes for everybody at the pump (single individual at thep ump) no real line - just all the pumps occupied - . I was like wow. Some people just fail it so utterly bad at life.

The sad part about it, One of the individuals who had taken 25 because i was just finishing up pumping and i had already waited 15-20 minutes, came out of the store and we started talking about cycling...

Leave the pump without paying may get you arrested. Many stations around here require payment, or a deposit, up front, or a credit card swiped at the pump. Mt. Pleasant, SC has a local ordinance requiring prepayment.

yeah, that's pretty inconsiderate. I just pay for gas, pump, and leave. If I don't absolutely have a craving for something, then I'm definitely not going to buy anything in the convenience store.

Pay at the pump...get on with your life.

I pay at the pump. I just come, fill up, and leave. I agree with you tho, plus isn't it against the rules to leave your vehicle unwatched while a flammable substance is being transfered?

I generally pay at the pump, except at my local place. You can't pay at the pump there, and I leave my car there... there are 8 pumps, and nobody lives around here to complain.
