Classic & Vintage - Schwinn Tempo

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Anyone know what year the Schwinn Tempo was first offered for sale?

Late 1980s post 1985. On the head badge the will a tiny 4 digit number stamped into it. You might have to look hard for it. The first 3 numbers are the day of the year and the last number would be the year. 3456 would be the 345 day of 1986. Roger
First Tempo I ever saw in a shop was early in 1984. Shimano Light Action derailers. I believe that was the first year for the model.
Point, That's what I was looking for! I've got a tempo that was made the second week of 84 so was wondering when they came out.
I know Panasonic made them & thought their serial numbers on the head tube gave some info. too, but not sure.
Thanks for the help guys!
