There haven't been any since the '80s other than Marty Nothstein. Most of them get out before they have a chance to succeed because they can't afford to stay in it - Jeff Labauve, Bill Clay, etc. International track success comes down to money. All the top track countries have government supported programs - Australia, Netherlands, UK, Germany.

That is some of the worst ageism I've ever seen!! A good sprinter is a good sprinter, no matter how old he or she is, and the clock has no prejudice for younger riders. Any sprinter who can deliver 10.2 (or better) on the flying 200m deserves whatever honors they can win. What difference does it make how old they are? Masters can be kick-ass cyclists, too, and in my experience can wipe up the track with the snot of most younguns.

[It's always hugely entertaining when all them frisky juniors and elite Cat 1/2 riders line up at the start line with Gil Hatton, determined to show up "the old guy." He usually lets 'em have a lead so they can just start smelling the victory, and then, WHAM!! He's laying down the hammer and pippin' 'em at the finish line. I watched him do this all summer last year at Encino.]

We should ask what happened to yours...or have you forgotten that Sean Eadie was YOUR national champ in 2004 at age 35, which is also Master's age.

lol. But we had about 7 guys queueing up behind him...Bayley, Jajka, Kersten, French, Leonard, Thorsen, Perkins....... A few Olympic, World, World junior and Commwealth champs in that lot.

Actualy he was caught because of testosterone. The drug he was on, hGC, has testosterone in it. Alot of drugs cause a testosterone deficiency(cause of small balls) and thats how they catch it. This one creates it to help hide it. Only once and a while you get a stroke of **** luck and get caught.

We have some young fast guys but our coaching is in such disarray that they probably won't get much faster. Sad to say but I don't expect to see Massie or Blatchford on any international podiums. They didn't send any sprinters to Manchester because they wouldn't make the sprint rounds but they'll never get international experience if they don't send them anywhere. Sometimes there's nothing more motivating than a good ass whupping.

+1. It comes from the urine of pregnant women so it's a safe bet it neither naturally occurs in men nor was it from a contaminated supplement.
