On my morning group ride today about 30 mi into it we flew through part of a neighborhood where I noticed a bike in someone's trash... It was definately a Schwinn LeTour, and it looked to be my size. It was definately one of those times I wish'd I'd had my car. Hhhh, every time it seems like I lose out on the good finds like this.

What's wrong with slinging it over your back and riding home?

I found one of my keepers that way, on my way to the bike shop I found an old Browning road bike in the trash, slung it over my shoulder, went to the bike shop, and rode on home (5 miles round trip) with my new find! Happy as a fly in...well, you know! ;)

I don't have a car, so I've been ghost riding bikes home next to me...from the thrift store I frequent, it's almost 8 miles. Yesterday I got my Bikes At Work trailer in the mail, though, so all of that nonsense is history:D

I was gonna say. My blue sky trailer regularly makes trips with 3 complete bikes in it :)

I don't take the trailer off these days. (Of course, I use it for work)

Itll never end for me! Ive been known to lug bikes home from the strangest places, I recently was invited to a family get together at my brothers house, came home with a Schwinn Continental! I was having my car inspected, came home with a 1910ish Racycle! picking up my daughter from ballet, came home with a Schwinn Stingray, Went over to check out my buddies new house, yup, came home with a bike, an old Austro Diamler! Itll never end for me! LOL! (and not only does my family understand it, but they still love me too!)

I found a nice Le Tour last summer just sitting by the curb, her front forks shoved into the dirt. I slung the bike over my shoulder and carried it a good 10 miles like a iron necklace.

Here's a shot a few weeks later on my first century ride into Galena Illinois.

Sweet Le Tour you got there! I always liked that yellow color on a Schwinn :)

I've rigged a back-mounted bike rack out of backpack straps on the fly before. I don't see why the same couldn't be done with a spare tube (assuming you carry a spare tube on your group ride)

Never leave a man behind.

You must have had a heck of a time welding that bridge to the rear rack! LOL! :)

LOL!

Its a neat bridge. It goes to a park built in the years after the civil war (it's US Grant's home town) and filled with old cannons pointed at town.
