Ska is one of the parents of reggae, more or less. Think walking bass lines, fast 16th-note offbeat guitar or piano rhythms, horns, etc. The most relevant example I can think of today would be The Mighty Mighty Bosstones.

Emo is short for "emotional hardcore" and originated around Washington, DC in the 80's to classify music that was a cross of punk and indie rock, with a heavy focus on depressed, "sorry" emotions. (hence the "I like to listen to music that makes me cry" question on the test.) Think of Weezer or Jimmy Eat World.
