Classic & Vintage - Vintage Ladie's Dunelt found on on Craigslist

This one is sweet, I think. A Ladie's Dunelt, three speed Sturmey Archer shifter, original Wrights saddle, grips, etc... - everything in almost pristine condition - about .0001 percent rust and very shiny chrome all about. Even has the original Dunelt medallions on the front post and rear fender.

I got this off of Craigslist for 40.00 from the original owner. When I asked how old it was she said "Well, I'm 61, my parents bought it for me when I was 7, so do the math.

I'm new at collecting vintages, but I think this one is a good deal. Any ideas?

The price sounds very good to me. I have yet to pay under a $100 for any of my purchases (the shipping is killing me) Check the rear hub for a date stamp.

While I'm here, can you tell me about the little nozzles in the front and rear hubs and also the bottom bracket? I'm guessing that's for lubrication. How often? How to check? What to use? As I said, vintages are new to me. :)

That is correct on the hub dating, that probably makes it a 1956 model bike. Yes the little nozzles are for oil. No real way to check it,(other than the sound of the rear hub, louder clicking is indicative of low oil) depending on how much you ride I would give it a shot every month or so. I use what ever oil is in the squirt can on my work bench (usually 30 wt ND). Don't park the bike on white carpet or fine floors, they do drip a bit...the joy of British Machinery. You will find quite a following of Vintage British Steel on here...I am very GUILTY (http://sports.webshots.com/album/556896825UBWheA) :eek: :p :D None of mine are museum pieces (can't afford those) but were purchased to be ridden and enjoyed.

I just never thought about emailing pictures to myself before...

I guess I must be ahead in the technocurve;) ...one of my cell phones I can upload the pictures to a website then email, download or store, and I can email from the phone. The other actually has a micro SD chip that I can download directly to the computer via an adapter.
