Triathlon - any heartrate monitors without a strap?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

The strap on my heart rate monitor always slips down while running. Really annoying. Considering that my monitor is pretty old anyway I was thinking if there are any out there that don't use a strap I could maybe be interested in such a thing. Are there?

I know of finger tip and ear lobe sensors but their accuracy is in doubt. One supplier, decades ago, offered a mild form of the type of adhesive used to keep false beards and other false things in place. Try it.

Saw this online, the Mio brand one- no idea on the accuracy compared to a strap, though.

Interesting, not bad price either but it looks a bit short on functions ... might be good enough though.

reebok make two, they seem a little 'featureless' though

Those suck. You have to put your finger on the touch pad in order to get a heartrate reading. That means you don't get a continuous monitoring of your heart throughout your workout. You only get it when you stick your finger on the pad.

I came across one a while ago that is strapless AND it gives a constant heartrate read out by continually measuring the blood pressure in your wrist. I am not sure how accurate it will be compared to ones with a cheststrap though. It seems that if that worked well, everyone would use that technology and do away with the chest straps...

What kind of HRM are you using? Polar makes a strap that is all fabric (no elastic) that may help with the problem.

Or hang out at a serious bodybuilding store and get a bottle of Bikini Bite clothing glue?

Anyone know if that will work with the PowerTap SL? (not 2.4)
