I love the stoker stem matching the rest of the bike. Nice touch
Beautiful bike! I'm lusting after your stoker stem as well. I'm surprised to see disk brakes on wheels that are so close to being radially laced. I thought disk brakes needed the spokes to be at a sharper angle to transmit braking torque safely...

Now you tell me!!!! Seriously, I built this bike (and the stoker stem) for my wife & I about 10 years ago, or so it seems. It was right at the beginning of disk brakes for mountain bikes, and I had to try them out. There wasn't alot of information out then about tandems & disk brakes. They do work fine, but are a bit of a hassle to keep adjusted. I am contemplating changing it over to double pulls or cantilevers, and leave one of the disks for a drag brake. The only problem is redoing the paint job.

You may want to look at avid mechanical disc brakes. VERY easy to adjust and no worries about bleeding the the lines or any of the other issues with hydros. I run avids on my mountain bike and love them, and have on on the rear of my tandem as well and it works great too. They are not all the expensive too.
Thanks,
I wonder if they have the same mounting holes. These are ProStop? I think, too lazy to walk down to the basement right now to see. I would try a swap if the fit the same frame mount.

Thinks,I like seeing the pics, helps to see what works---sam
