This is just a post, to ask if anybody here knows much about Mark Renshaw.
Im a good mate of his, and I was just wondering whether anyone has any opinions on him etc, just to see if he is making much of a name for himself worldwide.
He was in the Australian Teams Pursuit World Record breaking team (before his 20th birthday!), has been a World Junior Kilo Champion on the track, and dual World Junior Team Sprint Champion, he won the World Cup overall for the kilo his first year in seniors, took 5 national titles his first year in seniors and since leaving the junior ranks has been trying to transform from a track sprinter, to a track enduro, or road sprinter.
He always road the kilo in juniors (altho he was 2nd in the pursuit at nationals as a 2nd year 19), but has now started riding Madisons, Points Races, Scratch Races, Pursuits etc...He will be most likely teaming up with Graeme Brown at this years Worlds, for the Madison, and I think they could be hard to beat. Mark, blitzed the field (3 laps up, and consider that as an ex-kilo rider he can take them in the sprints aswell) in the South African track world cup round, this year, but has been concentrating mainly on the road.
Basically as far as racing on the track goes (generally-no specific event), not many are better-yet this guy is still only 20...He's converting from Sprinter to Enduro, and atm seems to be able to do both (was still up there as one of Australias best Kilo riders last year the few times he contested it-i saw him do it a the state titles where he easily beat Danny Day-but he's also a Pursuiter, Points Racer etc)...
Anyway, as you cant tell Ive got a HUGE wrap on this guy, and was just wondering if anyone has heard much about him...IMO, he'll be Australias next BIG road sprinter...
