Hey, Ive seen in mags - riders with sunglass type frames with clear lenses. This would be perfect for my commute needs. Anyone have any leads on something like this. thanks

Many frames will accept replaceable lenses so you can swap between grey to yellow to clear or one of a multitude of colours. Check out Smiths, Rudy Projects, and Bolle for starters.

Some of the high-end eyewear like the Rudy Project Graal glasses come with one set of dark lenses, a set of reduced light lens (e.g., Racing Red or Blue), and a set of clear lenses.

Performance & Nashbar also sell house brands at the other end of the cost spectrum that come with several different lenses as standard.

If you just want clear lenses to protect your eyes, get some Uvex safety glasses from a hardware or power equipment supplier. Durable and cheap, some models don't even look to dorky.

nikos: Check out the Radial II glasses from performance. Search for product number 20-1293 on their web site. These glasses are great. I use the clear ones in the morning when I ride in the dark and either the gray or amber lenses in the afternoon when I ride home.

I use racketball clear lenses. They come in sizes that cover the entire eye (Good for rain and snow) and ones that look just like glasses.

Oakley M frames. You can get clear, yellow, or whatever. I have the dark lenses and clear ones.

I will not ride without them.

Being the kind of guy that sits on expensive glasses or leaves them somewhere I went to safety glasses there are some pretty stylish ones out there you can pick them up at Lowe's, Target and I presume Walmart or some other discount stores. They are inexpensive and tough. though the optics on good sunglasses are better. They come with clear, amber and a variety of dark shades.

Edit: I am wearing a pair in my Avitair if you can make them out, they are Uvex's we carry them where I work they have many different styles to chose from.

I use Smith and Wesson Magnum safety glasses. I have them in clear for my morning pre-dawn commute as well as dark mirror for my sunny homeward commute. I like them better than any cycling glasses I have seen. There is no frame across the top to obscure vision, they wrap around for good coverage, are fog resistant and sturdy, have good non-skid nose pieces and cost $6-10 depending on color. Check tasco-safety.com.

Welding suply stores have large selections of clear safety glasses, some very fancy. Hardware stores have clear safety glasses too, but usualy just very plain ones. They also come with grey, amber, blue and mirrored lenses. $5-$10
I have a clear pair I wear when it rains or at dusk when all the bugs come out.

Thanks for the tip, I found what I wanted at this online safety store. I purchased the same type glasses as the weiner in the picture above. Here is the link, go to safety glasses on the right hand side. Many clear lenses to choose from.
